Living in the City

We didn't feel it here in the city being about 700 kilometers away or more from the places affected,  but the people, according to the  news  from those areas swear the earth shook  for more than a minute. They said they just stopped whatever they were doing, stood there as if they were waiting for something bigger to happen.. didn't they thought of praying at all :-( People on TV said the earthqualke was felt in the eastern sections of  Samar, Leyte, the Bicol provinces and Eastern  Mindanao. Not surprisingly, the earthquake,  says the news,  originated from the Philippine Trench.  The Philippine Trench (also known as the Manila Trench) is a deep underwater trench that is caused by the collision of two tectonic plates (the Philippine Sea Plate and the Eurasian Plate) east of the Luzon island of the Philippines. The Eurasian Plate is subducting underneath the Philippine Sea Plate at a rate of approx. 16 cm/year. This tectonic activity causes most of the volcanic activity

With the appointment of Mar Roxas as DILG Secretary, I say patronage politics is on again.. I could only guess but has this got to do with Roxas running in the 2016 Presidential elections.. laying the groundwork so to speak? har

Sec Jesse Robredo: Gone Too Soon  I don't know why napapaiyak ako pag naririnig ko na sobrang dami tao trying to honor the Secretary? I don't know the man.. so where is the "connect"? what i heard before was there were certain sectors in the political scenery wanting to get him out of DILG.. after reading snippets of news and watching people on TV speak so fondly and admiringly about him, i now have an inkling why - - if true .. the reason why they want him out of there.. grr .. har RIP Sir! Marriage equals Working Trying Sacrificing but forever is such a very long time.

Habagat Aug 7 and 8,  2012 It is now 6PM of Aug 8. After a very brief respite from the rains this morning, the rain has started pouring hard again.. our place's roofing is about almost giving up.. water is starting to drip drip drip.. our stairs are filled with old and used ice cream containers trying to drink the drips from the roof - whew.. hopefully, the rains will cease after tonight because it will hit landfal in China.. at least that's what Pag asa says.. from yellow warning back at lunch it is now back to red .. har .. Typhoon Gener that is. This storm affected the whole of  Northern Luzon practically.  Classes have been suspended for several days and so as work.. The Weather people says, Gener seems to be having too much fun in the Philippines being stationary and all over there in the north. Erratic but having "stormy fun" Gener so far has  caused floods, got airline schedules suspended, created traffic havoc, spilled dams,  spit garbage out of Manila Bay, caused EDSA billboards down, etc. Seems to me these weather aberrations are becoming stronger and wierder.  Can't help but feel for those affected. Our family was once a victim of  a weather condition similar to Gener. He was called Ondoy! Take care everyone. More typhoon and weather imagery here .
