Living and getting an Amen-sch

When will I have my very own mensch? I wish every woman would have their own too.

"In Yiddish (from which the word has migrated into American English), mensch roughly means 'a good person'. A mensch is a particularly good person, like "a stand-up guy," a person with the qualities one would hope for in a dear friend or trusted colleague."

A mensch is "someone to admire and emulate, someone of noble character. The key to being 'a real mensch' is nothing less than character, rectitude, dignity, a sense of what is right, responsible, decorous".

Jack Lemmon was called a mensch in a 1960 film called 'The Apartment', which starred Shirley MacLaine and Fred MacMurray and directed by the great Billy Wilder. It is about a "love and ambition in the world of big business", and how people can get sucked into situations that spell losing character, suffer indignities and lead to irresponsible behavior. Understandably, the movie got a Best Picture award from the Oscars.
