OMG my lower back so aches I can barely stand

This morning I was washing two foot rugs, not really heavy stuff.  I think I strained my back because something is causing this stinging pain on my lower back.

When I tried to google "sudden back pain" this was what I found:

"As people age, bone strength and muscle elasticity and tone tend to decrease. The discs begin to lose fluid and flexibility, which decreases their ability to cushion the vertebrae.

Pain can occur when, for example, someone lifts something too heavy or overstretches, causing a sprain, strain, or spasm in one of the muscles or ligaments in the back. If the spine becomes overly strained or compressed, a disc may rupture or bulge outward. This rupture may put pressure on one of the more than 50 nerves rooted to the spinal cord that control body movements and transmit signals from the body to the brain. When these nerve roots become compressed or irritated, back pain results.

Low back pain may reflect nerve or muscle irritation or bone lesions. Most low back pain follows injury or trauma to the back, but pain may also be caused by degenerative conditions such as arthritis or disc disease, osteoporosis or other bone diseases, viral infections, irritation to joints and discs, or congenital abnormalities in the spine. Obesity, smoking, weight gain during pregnancy, stress, poor physical condition, posture inappropriate for the activity being performed, and poor sleeping position also may contribute to low back pain. Additionally, scar tissue created when the injured back heals itself does not have the strength or flexibility of normal tissue. Buildup of scar tissue from repeated injuries eventually weakens the back and can lead to more serious injury.

Occasionally, low back pain may indicate a more serious medical problem. Pain accompanied by fever or loss of bowel or bladder control, pain when coughing, and progressive weakness in the legs may indicate a pinched nerve or other serious condition. People with diabetes may have severe back pain or pain radiating down the leg related to neuropathy. People with these symptoms should contact a doctor immediately to help prevent permanent damage".

I think,  'quoted paragraph 2'  describes my present condition. Hello Salonpas.. hello liniment.

My Friend's Medical Emergency and Fashionable Scrubs

Recently, we learned that  our  friend was found to have Stage II cancer of the colon. Upon hearing this unexpected and sad news,  my partner  straight away, went to see him to give our  moral support; I was unable to join during the initial visit. Subsequently, we were informed that the  diseased  colon was quickly scheduled to be removed along with his gall bladder. There was no time to waste. The tests or the work-ups were done. Prognosis looked good at this point.

And so the big day came. On we went to the hospital and must confess that we were impressed with the green hospital scrubs the medical personnel were wearing. It was like watching those medical-inspired shows on TV.

Early on,  my partner and I resolved  to be with him at the hospital before and during the operation.  It will  take more than six hours, so we were informed. But it was taking more than that. So we  decided to step out for coffee to allay our fears and drive away the tension. When we came back  to the  OR,  the  operating room  staff  wearing their green surgical scrubs happily informed us that the operation was over and our friend was brought to the recovery room. What a relief.

It was so comforting to see this medical staff in their gleaming  high fashion scrubs all busy,  hovering about and attending to our friend's post operative needs. It contributed to that efficient hospital look, auguring well with good management.

Our friend was still sleeping, we were told, but the procedures went very, very well. No complications. Precise like clockwork. We thought this was a good omen of more good news to come. I am praying that this will be the last of us  seeing  medical uniforms lab coats on doctor specialists,  no matter how impressively tailored they appear,  because our friend will be up and about soon.

A view of Rizal

Yet another view of  Rizal province, from where I sit taking my ginger brew  every morning.. something that  makes my day, a day to always remember..

A wee bit of information on Rizal: the towns in Rizal include, Antipolo, Taytay, Cainta, Morong and Tanay, Angono, Rodrguez, Pillila, Jalajala, Cardona, Baras, San Mateo, Binangonan and Teresa. These towns are accessible via jeepneys plying from different centers in Metro Manila.

Could be a thing of the past..

Everyday, I   see the MRT Santolan Pasig Station from our  veranda.  As I get my daily dose of Vitamin D here every morning , I see these trains  come,  and I see them go.  The thought that this pretty landscape can be erased  at any moment because of the West Valley Fault System is unbearable. If Nature so decides who are we humans to question. But still I pray for God's mercy.

After Ondoy, Now it's the WVFS

When the  Intensity 9  Fukushima  Earthquake devastated Japan, my partner and I became concerned - what do we do? Will we move our residence again? The reason? Our  place  right now sits on top of the West Valley Fault System (WVFS).

WVFS is an earthquake fault system that  traverses primarily  Quezon City, Marikina, and Pasig.  The system affects many subdivisions, including Loyola Grand Villas, then  proceeds southwest to Baranggay Barangka, moves southwards to Valle Verde.

"From Barangka, the fault follows the base of Eastern Q.C. high lands and gradually becomes less distinct".

We are concerned. Afraid,  yes. I have been  trying hard to contain the fear, unceasingly praying  that nothing devastating ever happens. Best of all, we are trying to prepare for the worst.

But to think that we're just recuperating from Ondoy.

Rainshowers in April

Used to be that in the months of March and April the searing heat in tropical countries  like ours, drives all of us nuts. But weather aberrations due to ozone layer destruction has  resulted to what now appears  to be the unimaginable effects  of  climate change.  For instance cold mornings  and damp weather in summer .. similar to what's happening at this very moment,  with rain starting to  fall in drizzles, slowly growing  to palpable and very insistent heavy showers.

Har.. summer used to be sunny, bright weather, birds twitting endlessly,  with winds blowing gently, and  fruits generously waiting to be picked..

What has happened to our world? Have we been too irresponsible in our ways,  that we are now reaping  the consequences of our own abuse for nature?

There is still time I hope. We must do what is right for Mother Nature. Otherwise, doom will surely meet us at the end of the road.

Hello there

Yes, it's been a while. My only reason is too little time for too many tasks to accomplish. I regret that there's only 24 hours in a day.

I have been busy in social networking sites.. looking for school friends, trying to reach out -- to re-connect with classmates. I have also been trying to locate long lost relatives. And glad to say, I am lucky. I have found most of those who matter.

In a month's time perhaps, I hope I can attend to blogging full time. Ahh, there's so much to write about, lessons learned, and significant things to make this life more meaningful.
